Solving Drainage Problems on Your Property: A  Comprehensive Guide!

Water buildup can create many issues, from damaged foundations to musty basements. Standing water after rain, wet areas in your yard or damp spots in your basement are often signs of a drainage problem. Fortunately, with careful planning and the right solutions, you can keep water under control and protect your property from lasting harm.

Identify Problem Areas

Walk around your property and note where water pools or flows incorrectly. Look near downspouts, sidewalks and corners of the yard. Watch for water stains on your home’s foundation or on basement walls. Knowing exactly where the trouble is will help you decide the best way to fix it.

Improve Grading

If your yard slopes toward your home, water may settle around the foundation. Fixing the grading involves adding soil to raise the ground near the house so water flows away. A gentle slope encourages runoff to move toward safe drainage points, protecting both your yard and your home’s structure.
